Itinerary

For this tour, you will be picked up around 7:30 AM. from your accommodation and will take you to the office in the south of La Paz. Likewise, it is where you will meet your guide and give you a brief explanation about the tour. However, once you’re ready, you’ll embark on an exciting, mostly off-road ride to the city of El Alto, then leave the city as you begin to gain altitude.

As you get closer to Chacaltaya, little by little you will begin to feel the drop in temperature. In addition, you will see several lagoons of different colors, and you will be able to make umbrellas to take photos with the impressive landscape behind you. Likewise, a winding and dusty road that climbs sharply up the mountain, and then we will arrive at the refuge (5100 m.a.s.l., 16732 feet) approximately 2 hours from La Paz.

Likewise, the views from the refuge and the summit of Chacaltaya are impressive, and this is a rare opportunity to reach that height without climbing mountains or using special equipment. Similarly, Illimani and Huayna Potosí are just two of the mountains visible from the viewpoint. Finally, the return to the city of La Paz will be around 6:00 p.m. approx.
