SAMAIPATA FULL DAY SANTA CRUZ

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

The archaeological site of Samaipata located in the last foothills of the eastern Andes of Bolivia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters, is commonly known as “El Fuerte of Samaipata” and with this denomination it was inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO. However, the most characteristic and striking feature of the site is not its defensive installations, but rather the gigantic sandstone rock in which many geometric elements such as bands of rhombuses, triangles, channels, steps, chairs and stairs are carved. In addition to figurative recordings such as felines and snakes, everything that gives this site a unique character.

DESCRIPTION SAMAIPATA FULL DAY

On the Samaipata full day we will visit the monument called “El Fuerte” located in the department of Santa Cruz, Florida province, municipality of Samaipata, about 7 km away. Also the same name of the town. Likewise, at 1920 meters above sea level the largest ceremonial work of rock art in Latin America and the world is located. Furthermore, it is an imposing and gigantic mass of very thin reddish quartz sandstone, completely carved on its back.

We will continue with the visit to the Hummingbird Refuge, this refuge became a natural sanctuary, vibrant with the fluttering and singing of multiple species of hummingbirds and other birds.

Itinerary

Very early in the morning, at 07:00, we leave Santa Cruz de la Sierra heading for the Cruceños Valleys area until we reach Samaipata, a beautiful route, 60 flat kilometers and 60 kilometers through the mountain range where we will enjoy the air pure and exuberant vegetation and panoramic view.

Later, at 10:00 a.m., we arrive at the archaeological center of “EL FUERTE”, which in turn is a strategic point where 3 geographical regions are divided: Valley, Chaco and Amazonia. Then, at 13:00, we will enjoy lunch in the picturesque town of Samaipata. Later, we will take a tour of the Artisan Center, the Plaza and the surroundings. Finally, at 15:00 we will be back and we will go to the waterfalls called “Cuevas”, a walk that will take us to know thisxotic place of waterfalls with crystalline waters, which invite you to a refreshing and pleasant water bath in the middle of nature, formed by 3 waterfalls that form natural pools, a place where you can come into contact with nature. Therefore, at approximately 17:00 we will return to Santa Cruz, arriving at 20:00.
