The Madidi National Park in 5D, is a Park full of immense biodiversity, one of the most diverse places on the planet, according to great researchers, in this 5-day tour you will be able to enjoy your stay to the fullest, living in contact with the environment, traveling on trails, enjoying its waters and tasting delicious local cuisine. Itinerary
DAY 1. RURRENABAQUE – MADIDI NATIONAL PARK.
We headed by boat from Rurrenabaque to the Madidi National Park for 5D. The boat trip on the Beni and Tuichi rivers is 3 hours, it is an opportunity to observe the great biodiversity and the Amazonian landscapes, as well as the Bala Canyon, carved by the waters of the river. We will arrive at the ecolodge located in the middle of the jungle and we will settle in the Amazon-style cabins.
We will have lunch and a short rest in the hammocks, then we will take a 3-hour walk along the Tereche trail until we reach the Aguapolo River, where you can walk along the riverbanks and observe the natural cliff, which encompasses several species of birds. During the tour you will have the opportunity to observe some animals such as monkeys and mammals. And to end the day we will return along the Wabu trail to enjoy our dinner.
DAY 2. MADIDI NATIONAL PARK.
After a good start, a 3-hour hike through the trails. Along the route you will be able to appreciate a great variety of giant trees, of which the mapajo, the almond tree and the strangler tree stand out, which can reach up to 40 meters in height or more. Accompanied by your local guide, you will have the opportunity to learn about medicinal plants and their healing benefits. This tour allows you to appreciate the primary forest and observe some species of animals and birds.
Then at the ecolodge we will have a nutritious lunch with products from the area, then we will go by boat on the Tuichi River to the path called Serere, where we will hike until we reach the Piranha Lagoon where you can optionally start fishing for piranhas. On this tour you will get to know the riverside forest where the squirrel monkey is frequently sighted. After the fishing activity, we will visit a mammalian salt flat, where you can learn about the behavior of the animals. We will return to the ecolodge to have dinner. Afterwards you will have the opportunity to take a short walk along the path called Didia, where you will have the opportunity to observe a variety of insects and frogs.
DAY 3. MADIDI NATIONAL PARK.
After breakfast, we will hike for approximately 4 hours, going through the trails. This walk is considered one of the longest tours of the ecolodge, which crosses different ecosystems of the tropical rain forest. Next, we will have a delicious lunch, after lunch we will take a boat to the pava cullpana trail, which will lead you to a platform from which you will be able to observe the mammal salt flat. After observing the salt flats, continue a short walk to the Tuichi River to take the boat back to our ecolodge. Later, we will have a traditional dinner, which consists of catfish cooked in heliconia leaves. After dinner, the local guides will be able to share with you a talk about the Uchupiamonas and Tacana cultures.
DAY 3. VISIT TO SANTA ROSA LAKE – MADIDI NATIONAL PARK (OPTIONAL).
After breakfast, we leave by boat on the Tuichi River. We travel 2 hours until we reach the port, where a 20-minute walk will begin until we reach the fascinating Santa Rosa Lake. The lake is ideal for canoeing, piranha fishing and observing the impressive landscape of Madidi. We will have lunch by the lake. After lunch, you can optionally swim in the lake before starting the return trip. This tour offers a greater possibility of observing mammals, birds and, with more luck, spotting the jaguar on the banks of the river. The tour has an additional cost of USD 30 per person to cover transportation costs.
DAY 4. MADIDI NATIONAL PARK.
After our breakfast you will be able to make your own crafts with seeds from the area. For this activity, the guide will provide you with the necessary tools and will teach you each step of the process until you obtain your final product and take home a nice souvenir. Next, we will have lunch and a short rest in the hammocks.
In the afternoon we will have a boat trip on the Tuichi River. We will take a walk along the banks of a stream, where you can learn about the secondary forest. Upon your return to the ecolodge you will have the option of doing the tubing activity, which consists of a fun trip floating on rubber tubes, where you can relax and enjoy paradisiacal views. In case you are not interested in this activity, you can return to the ecolodge by boat. Tubing is offered whenever the weather and river conditions allow it. Finally, at night we will have a traditional dinner consisting of catfish cooked in heliconia leaves, at night we will have board games after dinner.
DAY 5. MADIDI NATIONAL PARK – RURRENABAQUE.
After breakfast, you will begin a 3-hour guided walk along the Wabu trail, which will lead us to the mammalian salt flat, where the animals come to ingest the mineralized clay mud. Next, we return to the ecolodge along the Tuichi trail, where we will enjoy a spectacular view of the Madidi jungle from a natural viewpoint, arriving at the ecolodge we will have a nutritious lunch. Finally, we return to Rurrenabaque and depending on the time of year we will visit Caquiahuara, a natural attraction located about a 20-minute walk from the Tuichi River where you can see the macaws on a natural cliff. The return trip is 2 hours, upon arrival we will transfer you to your accommodation or to the airport.
