NOEL KEMPFF MERCADO NATIONAL PARK 4 DAYS
Noel Kempff Park has tremendous biological value, first because it is a large area that houses a very significant number of large animals as well as plants that can only be found there and nowhere else in Bolivia or the world. On the other hand, it is a transition zone between the dry forest of Chiquitano and the Amazon, making it a very important corridor between two large eco-regions.
DESCRIPTION NOEL KEMPFF
The Noel Kempff Mercado National Park is located in the department of Santa Cruz, it is of great importance due to the high biological value it has.
Within the park the visitor can carry out a wide variety of activities: trekking along trails, camping, observation of flora and fauna.
In addition to conducting scientific research, bathing in natural pools, visiting communities, canoeing, observation of birds, filming and photography, return fishing, visits to archaeological sites and rappelling. But of all these activities, two stand out above the rest: the observation of flora and fauna and the visit to the waterfalls.
To observe the falls, the best season to visit is during the rainy season, between January and April or May. On the contrary, if what you want is to observe animals you have to go when the waters are low since there are more possibilities of seeing large animals on the beaches.
Jaguars, monkeys, capybaras, londras, deer and turtles are some of the most emblematic animals found within the park. But the number of registered species is even greater: 1,325 including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals; 347 species of insects and 4,000 species of plants.

Itinerary
DAY 1:
At 07:00 a.m. We will pick you up from your Hotel to transfer to the airfield. We will board a small plane that will take us to the north side of the park. We will arrive at Flor de Oro. We will begin the waterfalls tour of the park. After flying the first 30 minutes towards the northeast we will be able to appreciate the devastation that agricultural fields, mainly Soybeans and Sunflowers, cause to the forest. Later we will be flying over the town of Concepción, which is part of the Jesuit Missions of Chiquitania. While we fly we will be able to see its different types of forests, while we head towards the “Rainbow” and “Ahlfeld” hulls. We will fly at low altitude first over the “Rainbow” waterfall, taking it around at an angle where the photographs come out better.
After landing at Flor De Oro and the respective presentation of the staff who will make our visit pleasant, we settle into our rooms. Lunch at Flor De Oro and after a short rest.
At night it is possible to take a short walk to try to see more wildlife.
Overnight at Camp Ahlfeld.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, we will take a path parallel to the Pauserna River towards the top of the Ahlfeld waterfall and the Rainbow Waterfall. We continue moving away from the campsite along a path that crosses different types of forests. The path will ascend slightly towards the Rainbow Falls viewpoint.
We walk approximately 30 more minutes along the plateau until we reach the point where we get a magnificent view of the Rainbow Falls.
Once we have finished appreciating the waterfall and its surroundings. We will return to the Ahlfeld campsite to rest and have dinner.
DAY 3:
After breakfast, we will leave along a different path, although also parallel to the Pauserna River towards the top of the Ahlfeld Waterfall. From where the waterfall begins to form, this view for some is more impressive, although the observation angle is not as wide as from below the waterfall.
This first part of the walk is approximately 40 minutes, where we will take around 30 minutes to enjoy the place. Later we will continue moving away from the camp along the same path and walking through different types of forests, the path will become slightly ascending towards the Rainbow waterfall. There are parts where this path becomes narrow with a stone wall on one side and on the other a drop of several meters towards the Pauserna River, you must walk very CAREFULLY.
The return trip is somewhat shorter than the original trip.
Once back at Camp Flor De Oro. We may prepare for a short night hike on the trails around Flor De Oro. Dinner and overnight at Flor de Oro.
DAY 4:
Before breakfast, we will take a walk along one of the trails.
If conditions allow, early we can take a boat ride to visit the first bay near Flor de Oro. Or we could do a combination of both, a boat ride and some trekking. We will return to Flor de Oro for breakfast and get ready to return to Santa Cruz. Lunch and brief rest, return to Santa Cruz where someone from the company will receive you to take you to your hotel or home. End of this visit of the Tour to the Noel Kempf Park Falls.
