Copacabana, a small town on Lake Titicaca, is famous for its religious traditions. This 2-day tour will allow you to visit the most important tourist attraction in Copacabana with a stay on Isla del Sol.

The Island of the Sun (Isla del Sol) is an island in the southern part of Lake Titicaca. It is part of the modern Plurinational State of Bolivia. Geographically, the terrain is hard; it is a rocky and mountainous island. There are no motor vehicles or paved roads. The main economic activity of the approximately 800 families on the island is agriculture, while fishing and tourism increase the subsistence economy. Of the various towns, Yumani and Cha’llapampa are the largest. Don’t miss out on visiting this place brimming with culture.

OVERVIEW

DAY 1:

We begin the tour at 7:30am to go to Copacabana, where we will first visit the Copacabana church. After lunch, we will go to the Isla del Sol by boat where we will have a light walk, visit the staircase of the Incas, and later arrive at our lodging to rest.

DAY 2:

After breakfast, we will start a walk to the archaeological center of the Incas where we will talk a bit about the history, then we will go to the Inca temple, later the boat will take us to Copacabana where we will have lunch, after which we will head back to La Paz.

DAY 1: LA PAZ – SOUTHERN END OF THE ISLAND OF THE SUN

7:30 – 7:40am. We will take a shared tourist bus to Copacabana. Once we arrive (about 12:00pm), we will visit the Church of Copacabana (depending on the arrival of the bus). After, we will have lunch (there will be delicious lake trout available).
1:30 pm. We will go by boat to the Isla del Sol where we will have a short walk to see the Inca stairs and a fountain. (The walk to the best viewpoint to see the sunset is optional). Delicious dinner and lodging included.

DAY 2: TEMPLE OF THE SUN – LA PAZ

Once we have breakfast, we begin the walk to the archaeological center of the Incas. Then, we enter the Inca temple where you will have a good explanation about the place.
1:30 pm. The boat will pick us up from the ruins and take us to Copacabana, where we will have lunch. After, we will take the bus back to La Paz.
5:30 pm. Arrival in La Paz at Plaza San Francisco.
