The capitalist entrepreneurial spirit is flourishing in the footsteps of Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, the Argentine-born Cuban revolutionary who died in his failed attempt to implant communism in Bolivia.
Unlike our full-day tour, this 3-day, 2-night package has much more to offer our travelers eager to go further on their journey. In addition to exploring Samaipata, its beautiful surroundings, and the pre-Inca site of El Fuerte, you will also visit Vallegrande and La Higuera. Packed with majestic landscapes and a great historical focus, if you are a lover of the sublime nature and the stories of Che Guevara, this trip is perfect for you!
OVERVIEW
DAY 1:
Visit to the Fuerte archaeological center.
Visit to the Fuerte museum.
We will travel to Vallegrande.
We will arrive at the hotel to spend the night.
DAY 2:
After breakfast, we will visit La Higuera.
We will visit the school where Guevara was exhibited.
After lunch, we will walk to Churo.
In the afternoon. we will return to the hotel where we will spend the night.
DAY 3:
After breakfast, we will visit the airport where Che’s human remains were found. We will also visit the museum, the sites, the laundry, etc. After the tour we will return to Santa Cruz.

Itinerary
DAY 1: SANTA CRUZ, SAMAIPATA, AND VALLEGRANDE
Starting from Santa Cruz, you will travel to Samaipata (120 km – 3 hours).
From Samaipata you will go to the archaeological center of El Fuerte. This visit offers incredible views of the sub-Andean nature.
Arriving at the ruins of El Fuerte, you will have time to explore the greatest example of pre-Hispanic architecture in South America, declared a Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
Then, you will continue to the city of Samaipata where you will visit the museum and take a walk around the city.
As the afternoon approaches, you will continue the trip to Vallegrande (3 hours). This province is on a great undulating plain. Its name comes from colonial times due to the great valley between the mountains that cross the territory.
Then you will arrive at the hotel where dinner will be served and spend the night.

DAY 2: VALLEGRANDE, EL CHURO, LA HIGUERA, VALLEGRANDE
After a hearty breakfast, your day will start with a trip to La Higuera (3 and a half hours). Throughout this trip numerous picturesque towns are observed such as Guadalupe, El Cruce and Pucará, with undeniable majestic views of the landscapes.
Upon arrival in La Higuera (110 inhabitants), you will visit La Escuelita where Che was executed on October 9, 1967. You will also visit the small Community Museum. After lunch, walk to Quebrada del Churo or Yuro (2 km.). This is where El Che was wounded and taken prisoner before his death. Then, you will return to the hotel where dinner will be served and spend the night. Including accommodation, breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
DAY 3: VALLE GRANDE – SANTA CRUZ
After breakfast, we will visit the airport where Che Guevara’s human remains were found.
You will also visit the historical monuments, the museum, and the places that were influenced a lot by El Che such as the Laundry, where his body remained until his burial.
From here, you will have lunch and return to Santa Cruz.
