DESCRIPTION.

Torotoro National Park is a protected area in Bolivia, approximately 3 hours away from Cochabamba. The Park covers an area of 165,700 km² and is known to be one of the most beautiful parks in the country. The landscapes are spectacular as you will find various large fossils, dinosaur tracks and bones, deep canyons, waterfalls and caverns.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This is a shorter version of a tour of the wonderful Torotoro National Park, ideal for those who are short on time and don’t want to get lost. Surrounded by incredible landscapes, you will explore caves, waterfalls and see the impressive dinosaur footprints. Torotoro is famous for its well-preserved dinosaur footprints, but the region also offers many other attractions that will be of interest to the visitor.



DAY 1. TOROTORO NATIONAL PARK – EL MOLINO HOTEL.

We leave for the Torotoro National Park, located in the region of the northern dry valleys of Potosí. The region is typically mountainous with deep canyons, valleys, and waterfalls. Traces of large reptiles from the Mesozoic era and deep caverns can be found. Then, at noon we will arrive at the stop in Torotoro and thus we will go to the El Molino Hotel, we will settle in the accommodation, and then have a delicious lunch, at 2:00 p.m. we will leave for Carreras Pampa and Chiflón Qaqa.

During the tour you can see an image of the Torotoro canyon, camouflaged by trees and then a vertical grotto is discovered in the distance where a crystal clear waterfall originates. As the route progresses, instead of going down towards the river, the walk is carried out uphill, until reaching a rocky room with small pools of water, from which you can see the existence of stalactites and stalagmites in inside the Chiflón Q´aqa cave. Next, we return to the town, at 7:00 p.m. we will have dinner at Hotel El Molino.

DAY 2. UMAJALANTA CAVES – CITY OF ITAS.

After a nutritious breakfast, we go to the Umajalanta cavern where large vaults and galleries appear, joined by small narrow passages on their way. Inside the cavern there are a variety of stalactites and stalagmites that take on capricious shapes and adorn these spaces. The Umajalanta River that runs through the interior of the cave also forms interior lagoons that house blind fish, unique in its kind worldwide. Next, at 1:00 p.m. we will have lunch at City of Itas, in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. we continue heading northwest towards the City of Itas. This tourist destination is located in a majestic mountain range of sedimentary rocks.

The city is made up of a set of stone labyrinths that lead to innumerable narrow caverns. You can also see rocks eroded in peculiar ways and in addition to the presence of cave paintings. All these characteristics make Itas one of the most interesting tourist areas in the region.

DAY 3. EL VERGEL WATERFALLS – COCHABAMBA.

In the morning, after breakfast, we will visit the Vergel, which is a 300 m deep canyon formed by the erosive action of the waters that managed to excavate this imposing ravine in millions of years. You descend along a narrow path for several minutes, until you reach the depths of the canyon. While descending, the view offered by the canyon walls is simply “spectacular”. At 1:00 p.m. we will have lunch in the Vergel canyon. 4:00 p.m. we return to the city of Cochabamba.
